Since 1996, Mr. Hylko Oosterloo (29) is working
as e-commerce adviser at Eurochambres, the
Brussels-based Association of European
Chambers of Commerce and Industry. The
organisation represents 32 national
associations of Chambers of Commerce with
over 14 million member enterprises in the
European Union and its associated countries.
At Eurochambres, Mr. Oosterloo is responsible
for leading the Task Force "Electronic
Commerce and ICT", which defines the
European Chambers' positions vis-à-vis
European policy-making in the area of the
Information Society.
He is also in charge of ensuring that Chambers
exchange knowledge and experience, develop
their networks and propose specific projects
aimed at increasing member companies'
involvement in Electronic Commerce.
During the past year, Mr. Oosterloo has been
managing an EU-sponsored (ESPRIT)
electronic commerce awareness project called
"DEMARCHE" (Development of the Electronic
Marketplace by Chambers of Commerce in
Europe). In 1999, he will be concentrating
mainly on the co-ordination and mutual
recognition of digital certificates issued by
different European Chambers of Commerce.
Mr. Oosterloo obtained a Master's degree in
"Politics and Administration" at the College of
Europe in Bruges (B) following his studies of
International Relations at the University of
Groningen (NL).
